Thursday (divvying up) Edition: Wha’ Happened?
Posted on September 11th, 2008 – 7:49 AMBy Michael Rand
We have a short amount of time before we have to jump in the car and go shape some young journalistic minds this morning, but we promised a rundown of last night’s ticket draft, and we will deliver. To recap: Roughkat, Brandon and Your Humble Proprietor went in on a package of $3 per game Wolves season tickets (2 tickets for each game). So last night we divided up what games we got via a simple draft. MC Creme Fraiche joined the festivities a little later, and then we randomly ran into Joker (seriously), who filled us in on his latest relationship and informed us that he restores and flies antique airplanes. Nothing about him will ever surprise us, nor should the No. 1 overall pick (ours): Friday, Nov. 21 vs. Boston. The full slate of our games (Roughkat can give you the draft order in the comments if he likes):
Thurs, Oct. 23 vs. Milwaukee (preseason)
Sat., Nov. 1 vs. Dallas
Fri., Nov. 21 vs. Boston
Tue., Dec. 9 vs. Utah
Fri, Dec. 12 vs. San Antonio
Sat., Dec. 20 vs. Houston
Fri., Jan. 2 vs. Golden State
Wed., Jan. 7 vs. Oklahoma City
Tue., Jan. 13 vs. Miami
Wed., Jan. 28 vs. Detroit
Wed., Feb. 4 vs. Atlanta
Sun., March 1 vs. Houston
Tue., March 31 vs. Dallas
Sat., April 11 vs. Phoenix
Wed., April 15 vs. Sacramento
It was a delicate balance of teams we wanted to see, plus dates that didn’t conflict with work or other previous engagements. All in all, we came away pleased (that last game is the final game of the season, and we are banking on getting some swag for Fan Appreciation Night). The whole thing was very reminiscent of “Fever Pitch” (the awful movie, not what is said to be a delightful book), when Jimmy Fallon’s character and his dork friends are dividing up Red Sox tickets.
Still: Best $85 we ever spent? And forgive us if we’ve covered this before, but what do you consider the best values to be had out there, not just in the sporting world but in everyday life?
