whitebearlake.jpgSee that big patch of blue? We’re supposed to run around that bad boy twice tomorrow with Local Quipster in the White Bear Lake 20 miler, a prime tuneup for the Twin Cities Marathon in three weeks. Training? So far, so good. If all goes well tomorrow, we will have logged 52 miles in seven days. They say if you can run 20 you can do a marathon. The longest we’ve gone so far is a shade over 16, so we’ll see.

Part II: Commenting. We are our own ombudsman. Guidelines to live by:

1) Avoid personal attacks. There is a difference between an attack and subtle ribbing. Everyone knows the difference. Apply it.

2) Try to stay on topic. Yes, things are bound to deviate from time to time — sometimes for the better. But the essence of any good string of comments (and even the coveted comedy pyramid) is a chain that builds. Nothing kills that momentum like an off-topic and/or rambling comment.

3) Everyone is welcome as long as they reasonably adhere to rules 1 and 2. First Amendment. It carries a lot of water in this country. If you cannot adhere, however … that can happen.

Oh, and the Commenter Of the Week is, obviously, Clarence Swamptown. Take us into the weekend, Cinderella.
