The Vikings are going to stomp all over the Bears this weekend! They’re going to clean up Soldier Field and send that modern spacecraft back to Pluto. They’re going to … wait … what’s that? Oh no! That’s Jama’s music!

Mr. Rand requested a post on what it means to be a Bears fan. It so happens that I am a Bears fan, so here we are. Most of you probably have an image of what a typical Bears fan is. I’m here to tell you you are probably right. Bears fans are arrogant, obnoxious, and normally intoxicated. I can freely admit this, but Bears fans are also as loyal as they come, even to their detriment.

Being a Bears fan also means you are never sure where the future is going to take you. Super Bowls? Maybe. Last place finishes? You betcha. Success generally comes around about as often as presidential elections.

I wasn’t old enough in 1985 to fully appreciate the greatest event in Bears history, the Super Bowl shuffle. Most of my memories are similar to Vikings fans, with my team always coming up just short. The only things the Bears have been known for over the last 20 years are strong defenses, bad QB’s (Joker has many links), and dumb RB’s.

So what have we found out? Being a Bears fan in Minnesota is great as long as they are winning and/or the Vikings are losing. What happens if the Bears happen to be losing? We always have 1985 to fall back on.
