Talker of the day: Marian Gaborik

Our own Mike Russo offered the most compelling and definitive news yet that Marian Gaborik will not be a member of the Minnesota Wild much longer. He is a top scorer and the last of the original Wild players — and yet, throughout the whole Gaborik tussle, we haven’t really had the feeling that a ton of people would miss him all that much. Maybe we’re just not plugged into Wild hockey like we are other things. Maybe the hot start and play of Mikko Koivu is altering perceptions. Maybe it’s his injury history. But for whatever reason, the level of hand-wringing is nowhere near what it was for KG, Johan Santana, Randy Moss and other elite Minnesota athletes who were eventually dealt. Do others get the same feeling, and if so, are there explanations you would care to offer?
