Uncle Rico meets journalism. Will ball go over mountains?

Cliff Pinckard of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, 43 years old old and self-described as a “weak-armed quarterback,” tries out for the local Arena League franchise. (Thanks to Fasolamatt, provider of all Ohio-based news, for the link):
Some of us hold onto unrealistic dreams, no matter how old we get.
When I was 12 years old, playing Nerf football in the back yard, the fantasy was to be the next Roger Staubach.
Now, almost 32 years later, the fantasy is to get out of bed in the morning without pulling a hamstring . . . and to be the next Roger Staubach.
Clearly, the odds of me playing professional football are infinity-to-one.
The Cleveland Gladiators recently gave me, and 116 other hopefuls, that one shot.
All 117 of us crowded into the Multiplex Events and Sports Center in Warrensville Heights on Oct. 11 for open tryouts for the Arena Football League team.
The open tryout story has been done to death, but at least Pinckard doesn’t take himself too seriously. Has anyone else out there gone to a similar tryout camp (Saints, etc.)? Do you secretly want to?
