Monday (Switch to Gophers?) edition: Wha’ Happened?

gophersfootball.JPGSunday was glorious. We got up, read the newspaper, did some advance RandBall work, did some other work, casually glanced at the noon football games, went to a late lunch with extended family, came back home, caught the end of the entertaining Giants/Steelers game (note to teams: watch what the Giants did on defense in the closing minutes: they rushed the QB hard. They did not play a prevent. Take notes), and later picked up the RBBH at the airport. There was no mental fatigue or gnashing of teeth. It was the Vikings bye week. Sure, they still managed to lose on Sunday (see the story of the Williams Wall), but there was no on-field debacle to ruin things. It made us wonder: will others soon be following in the path laid out by Mr. David MN, who eschews the local professional team for the college squad? With the Gophers now 7-1 and rising, while the Vikings are 3-4 and floundering, we can’t help but wonder if the torch will at least be temporarily passed. Imagine if the Gophers can get to 9-1 on the same weekend the Vikings play Green Bay and (theoretically) lose to the Packers at home. Wouldn’t you at least be tempted?

Other weekend thoughts:

*Saturday’s World Series dribbler most certainly would have gone foul, though we can’t blame Eva(n) Longoria for grabbing it and trying the underhand heave that produced the first end to a WS game that made us actually blurt out with laughter.

*The RBBH’s semi-lucid, post-flight alternate reality explanation for how we (I) got to be where we (I) are today: I was a bear living in the woods and was injured. She nursed me back to health by feeding me ham. The following morning I was very strong, and that’s when I was able to get a job at the Star Tribune. Seems plausible.

Fasola-link! Fashion watch.
