TFD: Re-imagining the goal-line stand with Ellis Wyms and Brian Robison in the middle

Nah, that’s no fun. If we do that, the Bears punch it in on 2nd-and-goal, Bernard Berrian never makes the 99-yard grab, Bennie Sapp enters the witness protection program and who knows what happens next. So instead, let’s stay positive (like The Hold Steady and Stu). If you can fathom the Vikings winning at Detroit and then winning one out of three after that without either Williams, then you can imagine a scenario by which the Vikings still win the division at 9-7, then get two of their best five defensive players back, rested and ornery for a home playoff game. Hey, Detroit and Arizona have terrible running games. Atlanta is beatable in the Dome. The Giants might not have anything to play for by Week 17. Or you can choose to imagine a scenario by which the Vikings hand Detroit its first win of the season and proceed into a downward spiral that ends with no more victories this season and heads rolling afterwards. The choice is yours. Which will it be?

Is it too early to scream Conspiracy Theory? They should have been suspended at least 2 weeks ago and therefore would not have played against the Bears leading to the Bears having a stranglehold on the division.(Everything that happens can always be turned into a Conspiracy Theory against the Bears)

The Vikes will finish 8-8 and still win the division.

At some point, you have to accept that another team’s flaws are more damning than yours, and that this may, in the screwy ways of the National Football League, benefit the Vikings. In defiance of history, my Minnesota upbringing, and my lifelong Viking fandom, I choose…optimism.

For the opposing, and likely majority, view, please go here. A perfect holiday gift, I remind you.

I still don’t know how Rocket got Brad Childress to pose for the cover of his book.

I predict a downward spiral. But then, I always do.

Jon: it’s not like you don’t have good reasons to do so.

Uh, you don’t have to imagine Brian Robison, he won’t be available.

Where’s Demetrius Underwood when you need him?

fasola: yeesh. Well, there goes the comfort of that plan.

Well we can take heart that P3 doesn’t think that the Williamses are any good, so, apparently, it’s not that big of a loss.

I can definitely see us losing to Detroit now.. Should have lost to them earlier this season at the dome..
