COW: Rocket strings 14 haikus into one Vikings poem

leastfavorite.jpgOn the strength of revealing some of our most embarrassing secrets (or were they?), Rocket has won the Commenter Of the Week. It’s an instant classic. Rocket?

All of the pundits and talking heads seem to be in agreement: I won this week’s COW on the strength of my raconteurishness. But I don’t post to RandBall to satisfy the pundits and talking heads.

If I was one of those dirty hippies who was face-first in a plateful of his “special ingredient” brownies, I’d claim to post, “For the people, man.” However, much like the pundits and talking heads, I don’t give a flying [redacted] about the people.

I post for my own amusement. As such, it’s time to change gears again.
And since National Haiku Poetry Day is only a week away …

Cruel NFL!
This season’s last games bring back
Angry memories

Bad losses to the
Cardinals, Falcons, Giants
Fill my heart and book (www.myleastfavoriteteam.com or your favorite internet retailer)

The championship games
The close loss and the blowout
Screw you, Nathan Poole!

To make the playoffs
The Vikings must face demons
From the recent past

But a new season
With Adrian Peterson
Provides a clean slate

Vanquished Cardinals!
The Falcons in the crosshairs
The Giants look weak

The past is not gone
These games are not “revenge games”
But wins would be good

Denny and Tice both
Did things that make me think that
Chilly ain’t that bad

The roller coaster
That is the season feels more
Than sixteen games long

The bad memories
Should caution me against hope
But I like this team

Dear higher power
It is happening again
Make my belief stop

If things break just right
The Vikings could have a bye
I must be dreaming

Playoff games at home
Increase the chance of success
Do I dare to hope?

More likely than not
This season’s end result is
Another chapter (www.myleastfavoriteteam.com or your favorite internet
retailer)
