TFD: Every Hobey vote counts! (A little bit)
Posted on January 8th, 2009 – 4:56 PMBy Michael Rand
For those who don’t know, the Hobey Baker Award is kind of the Heisman Trophy of college hockey (or, to Marthaler, the Heisman Trophy is kind of the Hobey Baker of D-I college football). We would like you to know that fan balloting for the Hobey opens tomorrow at Hobeybaker.com. You and you alone will determine who wins college hockey’s major award! Er, maybe not. Try this: Every vote counts … at least for something!
The highly popular fan-voting phase opens on Friday, Jan. 9, by visiting the Hobey Baker website: hobeybaker.com. Click on the Vote for Hobey Baker icon and follow the prompts to make your selection from this year’s outstanding crop of college hockey players.
This first phase of fan balloting will run now through March 8, 2009. Phase two of fan balloting will then begin on March 20 from the list of Top Ten Hobey Baker finalists. The fans’ vote accounts for a full 1 percent of the total ballot in each phase in selecting this year’s award recipient.
And with that, Marthaler’s scheme to single-handedly send Jordan Schroeder to Hobey-land falls by the wayside.
