Outdoor baseball … in February … in Minnesota?

It is called the Crispin Iceball Adventure Series. Naturally, it involves the St. Paul Saints. And it should be, at the very least … interesting. Outdoor baseball in February in Minnesota. Perhaps it will serve as a not-so-subtle reminder of why the Twins train in Florida. Or maybe it’s just another excuse to enjoy a few beverages in the winter. Here are some of the details, via the Saints:
*The game is Saturday, February 28, with the first pitch at 3:09 p.m. at Midway Stadium.
*It’s a five-inning game pitting “Saints players past and present against a team of celebrities.”
*The parking lot opens at 1:30 p.m. for tailgating.
*Attendance is free, and proceeds from food sales will benefit Second Harvest Heartland.
*Crispin is new local entry in the hard cider business. Of course they are.
*Groin pulls are mandatory, not optional.
*Jacque Jones, if he played, would strike out on an 0-2 pitch that broke down into the slush.
*If all goes well, the Saints might change to a November-March schedule.
We might have added a few of those at the end.
