Matt Spaeth is one of us. He played in high school at St. Michael-Albertville and in college for the Gophers. Next up, the tight end will play for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Sunday’s Super Bowl. As such, he’s making the media rounds; yesterday, he was on with KSTP’s Matt Thomas. Toward the end of the interview (listen here), the two had this memorable exchange:

Matt Thomas: Any goofy questions asked by anybody while you’ve been down there.
Matt Spaeth: Yeah, a lot of goofy questions, actually.
Matt Thomas: You got one you can mention to us?
Matt Spaeth: Yeah … they had somebody on our team asking questions, and he said, “The night before the game there’s going to be a lot of stress and people are going to be really nervous. … Do you plan on having sex the night before the game?”
Matt Thomas: (Laugh) And what was your response.
Matt Spaeth: I said no. Heath Miller is my roommate, and that would just be weird.
Matt Thomas: (Flummoxed). Matt, I’ll leave it at that on that one.

Spaeth (pictured with Miller) has also apparently been making the rounds with Steelers kicker/partier Jeff Reed (at least according to Drew Magary’s gossip site, Kissing Suzy Kolber). If you were on the fence about your rooting interest for XLIII, don’t forget about this local boy made good.
