comcastic.jpgComcast knows that it must have been troubling for a lot of Tucson-based cable subscribers to have 30 seconds of hardcore porn slipped into their Super Bowl coverage. But those who were watching innocently with their families, only to have their eyes seared by man-parts — well, those people are getting their justice: 10 bucks. That’s right, Comcast is giving all affected parties $10 to ease the pain. They don’t have to spend it on channels 501-549, but then again they can if they want to. From the Tucson Citizen:

Corporate affairs manager Kelle Maslyn said the cable company has “some leads” and will “aggressively pursue” them “until we come to a resolution.” … Comcast is offering $10 credits to any customer in Tucson “who was impacted,” she said in a statement issued Monday afternoon. … “While this credit won’t change what happened, we hope that it will demonstrate to our customers, and to the Tucson community, how seriously we are taking this situation.

Yes, $10 perfectly demonstrates the seriousness. It says Comcast is … oh man … blowing people off. (!!!)

But that doesn’t even get to our favorite part of the story: the last paragraph:

Comcast’s systems were otherwise working properly, Maslyn said.

Yes, with the lone exception of porn working its way into the Super Bowl, it was all systems go! Well done, Comcast! Almost perfect! Other than that, did you enjoy the play, Mrs. Lincoln?

And then, of course, there was this item from 2006:

It seems that Comcast customers in the Bay Area got a not-so-nice surprise yesterday morning when an ad for an adult pay-per-view show aired during an episode of Nickelodeon’s Fairly Odd Parents. Parents, rightly enough, were not happy. There was no nudity in the ad, but, according to one parent, “they were in lingerie, and just rubbing.

This whole thing will fade soon enough, but the $10 buyoff seems pretty weak. And if we find out this is just some elaborate GoDaddy ad, we’re going to be very disappointed.
