Thursday (Trading deadline) edition: Wha’ Happened?
Posted on February 19th, 2009 – 9:26 AMBy Michael Rand
There are three kinds of people in this world: people who think almost every potential move their team could make is a good one; those who think almost every potential move their team could make is a bad one; and people who do not enjoy key lime pie. To us, that really means there are two kinds of people in this world (anyone who doesn’t like key lime pie has been shunned and forgotten to the point that we deny their existence).
While we try to be rational and not immediately fall in love with every trade scenario — we’ll admit to talking ourselves into liking plenty of deals in the past, including the original deal with the Celtics that brought in Ricky Davis and co. — it can be hard, particularly when a team of interest either A) seems to be 1-2 pieces away from serious contention or B) is stuck in neutral and needs to keep shaking things up to move forward.
The Wolves have taken a step forward in some regards this year, but they still very much fit the “B” category. As such, we wait on pins and needles for today’s 2 p.m. trade deadline — even though the chances of landing Kirk Hinrich sound as though they are growing slimmer by the minute. We noticed that Sebastian Telfair had 30 last night amidst the swirling rumors; you might not have noticed that Hinrich dropped 31.
Our excuse: trading deadline day makes everyone irrational. It’s like cramming for a test that should have been studied for weeks ago.
What kind of person are you? The irrational trade lover or the perpetual trade fearer? We can live with either answer … just don’t tell us you hate key lime pie.
Fasola-link! This is why you’re fat.
