Could your gambling losses save the Vikings?

Well then, here’s a talker from our own Bob Von Sternberg:
When gambling, if at first you don’t succeed, you can always try again.
With that logic, Rep. Tom Hackbarth, R-Cedar, introduced a bill today that would open the door to a new casino in the metro area that would pay for a new stadium for the Minnesota Vikings.
Hackbarth sponsored a similar bill in 2004, but it went nowhere. And although Tim Pawlenty has had mixed reactions to gambling expansion proposals in the past, spokesman Brian McClung said today that the governor “has said that he isn’t interested in gaming. “
The bill would place a constitutional amendment on the 2010 general election ballot that would allow the state to issue a 30-year license to operate a casino somewhere in the Twin Cities metro area.
The revenue the state receives from the casino would be used to finance construction of a new stadium.
Tell you one thing: if Zygi Wilf is playing at our black jack table and hits on 14 with the dealer showing a 6, there is going to be a rumble.
In all seriousness, though: whaddya think? Sassbottom prefers some sort of scratch-off ticket funding (or at least he said so in a hastily constructed e-mail). Would you support gambling to build a new stadium?
