Mid-day talker: Imagining if T.O. had become a Viking

owens.jpgFor the first time in our lives, we were actually tempted to take one of those Internet betting sites up on its prop bet offer. And if we had, we would have been right. Bodog was offering odds on which team Terrell Owens would wind up with, which is kind of like gambling on how high and in which direction a spinning Super Ball will bounce. There was a ninth choice — Field: 5 to 2 — and we almost nabbed it. We just knew the mercurial wide receiver’s ultimate landing spot would be unpredictable. Sure enough, T.O. is now a member of the Buffalo Bills, who certainly qualified as one of the 24 teams in the “field” portion of things.

The Vikings, who also could use a wide receiver — but presumably don’t need a [redacted] like Owens — didn’t get in on the sweepstakes. But considering Owens’ history with head coach Brad Childress, we have to wonder just how insanely comical and bizarre this season would have been had the Vikings managed to nab Owens. Feel free to speculate on what might have happened in the comments. Our guess? Nothing short of a brawl at the 50-yard line by midseason.
