The post where we grant permission to use the Randball name for good, not evil

We receive a great many e-mails every day, and this one was awesome:
Mr. Rand,
I have some good news, and some possibly not so good news.
The good news - I read your blog frequently and some of my friends call me “Rand,” short for Randall.
The bad news - my softball team, “Team Calamity” aka “Runner Up Co-Rec Class D St. Paul Rec. League Champions” (if you “runner up champions” looks weird via email - you should see the plaque) is getting new shirts. My fiance suggested I put “Randball” on the back of my shirt - the whole Randall/softball combo.
So what’s the bad news? Well, I play SS, and frankly, I’m not that good. Imagine Craig Counsell (pictured, who by the way is the bane of Crentist’s existence), with less power, and even less fielding skills. Why do I play SS then? Because I pay for the team - that’s why. That, and I used to pitch, and got pegged three times … which was three times too many.
Anyway - I’m kinda diggin’ Randball for my jersey, but I thought I’d give you a shout and see if you mind if I use your blog’s name on the back of my shirt.
Regardless of your answer, I’ll keep reading!
Randall
