ortiz.jpgThe newest version of Backyard Baseball is out, and it features hometown boy Joe Mauer as the Twins’ representative. The one catch, as gamesters know: it’s a boyhood version of Mauer. Play it on the Wii or PS2. Good times!

But we use it mostly as a springboard to a couple of questions that are completely unrelated:

1) What is your fondest backyard baseball memory as a child? We have to say, in terms of pure backyard baseball, for us it was either the regular game we used to play with friends outside an apartment complex, where hitting a tennis ball either on a roof or over a particular sidewalk counted as a home run, and the bases were trees. Ah, improvisation. The other was a sweet wiffleball game we used to play with the neighborhood kids by my grandma’s house.

2) The midnight movie at the Uptown Theater this Saturday is Slap Shot. We are seriously considering going and would turn this into an unofficial RandBall event if others are in the mix. Remember, that’s a midnight start time. Who’s in?

Fasola-link! The messy room dilemma.
