Hodge-podge: Verlander’s Ks, RandBall Twitter Challenge update, 3 names you thought you’d never hear again

*Not to be negative here, but Justin Verlander has 11 strikeouts through five innings at the Dome. That’s more than two per inning. Apparently that’s quite good. Also, Scott Baker has fallen apart after a great beginning. Stop us if you’ve heard that one before.
*The Twitter battle between Brian Cardinal and Tim Brewster (first one to 1,500 followers gets an RB shirt) is not over! Just when it seemed Cardinal was slipping out of the race (and indeed had thrown in the towel), he has stormed back to within 60 at 1,248 to 1,188. Tweeted Cardinal in response to the good news: @RandBall SWEET…. I’m back in it.
*Three names you thought you’d never hear again:
1) Dan Roundfield, former NBA double-double hound.
2) Yahoo Serious, “star” of “Young Einstein.”
3) Torrian Gray, former Vikings defensive back.
Feel free to add to that list.
