RandBall interview: Rob Sax, proprietor of the Brett Favre-based web site Mourn4.com

Sassbottom noticed the “Mourn 4: The loss of Favre” Facebook group yesterday. Being the intrepid journalist-type, we decided to see if we could get in contact with the person who created the page and also the site Mourn4.com, where one can purchase a black arm band with the #4 on it for $5. Rob Sax, a 40-year-old Packers fan who works for a design agency in Madison, is that person. He e-mailed back right away, and this morning we had a chance to speak with him on the phone about his creation. Here is a little bit of what he had to say (more to come, likely, on Page 2 tomorrow).
Said Sax: “It’s kind of a simple story, and really what you might guess. It was maybe two weeks ago, a group of friends and I were sitting around talking about the Favre debacle yet again. Last year, when it was Packers vs. Favre, it was like your parents were getting divorced. Now with the Vikings [talk], it’s like they’re already divorced and you’re finding out your dad is dating the neighbor lady across the street.”
So Sax put together the Facebook group, which included the logo with a black arm band. A friend told him he should start making actual arm bands; that sounded logical, so he did. He made a batch of 200 and sold the first one two nights ago to a customer in Washington.
We talked for a while about how an actual signing here could drive up Sax’s business exponentially and how Vikings fans and Packers fans would react to the news. We told him it’s kind of a mixed bag here, with some people split on whether they want to see an old enemy in a Vikings uniform, and with others split on just how effective he would be. There is very little of that split across the border.
“It’s almost unthinkable,” Sax said. “I wouldn’t say it’s angry or completely upset. It’s just disappointing, like the way a parent gets disappointed in a kid or the way you’re disappointed when you find out there’s no Santa Claus.”
We have to give Sax credit for a couple of things: 1) He’s one of the most rational Packers fans we’ve ever talked to, those sensational quotes notwithstanding. 2) He’s donating 20 cents from every arm band sold to breast cancer research, “for karm’s sake, to give back to a cause that has been attached to Brett and Deanna.”
But we can let you draw your own conclusions.

And, as always, feel free to turn this early afternoon into some excellent office baseball. Just 12 hours after last night’s marathon ended, the the Twins and Tigers will be back at it. Smack yourself across the face every time a player makes a boneheaded move likely caused by exhaustion.

I was more disappointed when someone first told me that my parents have sex.
Smack yourself across the face every time a player the Twins bullpen makes a boneheaded move likely caused by exhaustion rank incompetence.
Stu, let’s not send anyone to the hospital today, OK?
Is it harder to find a rational or a sober Packers fan?
Rand, with as much space as you are getting on page 2 can we assume you are making more than Sid now?
Now we have to rely on the bullpen to try and stop the bleeding. That should work out well.
“Hey, Joker, my daughter and her sorority sisters are having a party at our house tomorrow night. Can you keep an eye on them and make sure they stay out of trouble?”
COMEBACK!
