As most of you can probably tell from the RandBall picture, we very much enjoy early 1990s rap/hip-hop. While knocking out some miles on the treadmill recently, we re-discovered some of the gems from the era, including [Redacted] with Dre Day, from “The Chronic.” We were struck by the notion that the song pretty much summed up that entire specific genre of music. It had a great beat, it was profane, it was vindictive. The song had it all. And still does. We will not link to the actual song, lest we set off the Sensatron 5000 Swear-Killing machine.

So we ask you on this Wednesday afternoon: what other songs define specific genres of music?
