Now this is how you run a dance team tryout

We had a little fun with the Spurs’ “Silver Dancers” auditions, which seem more rigorous than actually playing for the Spurs. Twitter pal Rackael assured us info on the Wolves auditions would be forthcoming, and we’re happy to report she isn’t a liar. We also will note that the Wolves seem to have more reasonable expectations. A comparison:
*The Spurs have EIGHT prep classes and seem to suggest an interested dancer should attend all 8. Cost? $20/class. The Wolves have two such classes and encourage prospective dancers to at least attend one. Cost? $10/class.
*The Spurs have two pages of paperwork to fill out and explicitly ask for height/weight. The Wolves want a dance/cheer resume.
*The Spurs want a full body photo and a head shot. The Wolves merely want a head shot.
*The Spurs are officially a NO PANTYHOSE team. The Wolves seem to be hose optional.
*The Spurs are 19-and-up. The Wolves are 18-and-up.
Overall summary: The Wolves are more inclusive, less bureaucratic and aren’t openly hanging up a NO FAT GIRLS sign. Then again, the Spurs have won four NBA titles since 1999. Perhaps some of that is directly attributed to a culture of excellence that extends from overseas scouting (Manu Ginobli, Tony Parker, etc.) to cut-throat dance team tryouts. But we really doubt it.
