For the record: Brewster’s bio has been updated and fixed

timbrewster1.pngnewbrewster.pngIn the interest of fair play, we would be remiss if we did not note that Gophers football coach Tim Brewster’s official blog has been updated to more accurately reflect his coaching history. On the bottom, you’ll notice the rewording of his record as opposed to how it used to be (on the top). Strangely, the numbers don’t add up, but we’ll assume the assistant coaching record is accurate. The spelling of Mack Brown and Chris Simms have also been fixed.

Some folks took this issue fairly seriously, which surprised us even if perhaps it shouldn’t. We never thought of it as anything more than a fairly harmless bit of fun, though we are happy to see it has been updated. We imagine much of the blog is put together by folks working for Brewster, and even though he should have final authority on what goes on it, we hardly imagine he instructed his minions to stretch the coaching truth.

Our favorite comments from the original post? Glad you asked:

So what? don’t see what the big deal is. wow rand! you are really living up to your job as a big city newpaper guy aren’t you?! spending your days reading the trash that gets posted on the iowa HOGEYE blog in the cedar rapids gazzette of all places?! if you are trying to make yourself appear pathetic and have no life like that little star wars costume wearing troll PantherHawk then you are doing a fine job of it. so this is what passes for news these days huh? can’t understand why newspapers are going out of business all over the country?!?!

Mom?

Maybe this will enable the brewster apologists to finally see this guy is nothing more than hot air and smoke & mirrors!

Hmmm … probably a little too strong in the other direction.

Michael Rand is Pathetic says:

Hey Rand - I always thought you were kind of a pathetic jerk - most who work in the profession of blogging are. And after posting this lame, cheap shot blog against Coach Brewster - this is not even news - you have proven my point. Thanks!

You’re welcome! And thank you for curing our pathetic nature. Now we don’t even have the urge to point out that, while mostly fixed, the new bio does have Brewster’s Gophers record at 8-16 when really it’s 8-17 by our math. Again, an honest mistake — and certainly not something to make us wonder if that Iowa game still doesn’t count.

Let us never speak of it again … and instead fix our gaze on Sept. 12, which will indeed be a day to celebrate the first game in what looks like a spectacular new stadium.

Obviously, it’s a dead heat between PantherHawk Licks [redacted] and Michael Rand is Pathetic for COW. Not an easy decision.

Well how are the Twins going to blow this game? Leave Slowey in for 2 too many batters or turn it over to the bullpen too early and let them give up 3 HR’s?

Reading over the new bio, they also removed the “NFL Stars” prefix for Simms, Young, et. al. A wise move, although it does nothing to take away from Vince Young’s delicious selection of Vince Young-brand meats.

I never realized until pantherhawk (if that is his real name) pointed out that Michael Rand is responsible for all of the newspapers in the country for going bankrupt. I hope you’re proud of yourself!

Who’d have thought that Reusse would pick such an apt handle for himself as “The Loon”?

Any chance we can get the Brew Crew Report to write a blog entry? I’m not sure the Strib 5000 can handle that many exclamation points but it wouldn’t hurt to try.

My premature COW vote goes to Stu. It’d be nice to hear how the other half lives in Stearns County.

I don’t see why people need to make disparaging comments like that. That kind of thing may be okay for the 14 year old daughter of an Alaska Governor, but for an adult male sports blogger…? Too far.

Like Kobe, the Twins seem to prefer to come from behind. They aren’t so good at this being out in front thing.

“Michael Rand is Pathetic”, a collection of Lifter Puller outtakes and b-sides, will be available in select Target stores July 7th.

I vote Brandon for COW, so he has a chance to redeem himself after getting knocked out by Rand.

Among the many reasons Ramon is the bee’s knees is that July 7th is a Tuesday, which is the traditional release day for new records/CDs/whatever. Attention to detail in snark is a rare gift, and one I’m glad to receive.

PantherHawk Licks [redacted] sounds like a gay.

And, yes, Milton Bradley’s faux pas requires its own entry. Thank you.

Michael Rand says:

If anybody is following on gametracker and is confused: Milton Bradley just caught a ball for the second out, then threw it in the stands thinking it was the last out. That allowed Brendan Harris to go from first to third.

This was one inning after Bradley lost a ball in the sun.

Terrific.

Why to fear commenting on Randball:
Even your snarky comments get fact checked by readers.

rah..rah..rah….let the ha ha ha continue! I still would like to know:

1. How is a recruiting coordinator considered an assistant coach? Brewster spent 1/2 his time with Brown as a recruiting coordinator, did he not?

2. How does a recruiting coordinator see fit to lay claim to on field results?

3. How would a recruiting coordinator actually “coach in a bowl game?”

Did anyone else hear Baerreiro make it sound like RandBall picked up on this from his show?
