buffalo66.jpgWe fancy ourself someone who embraces new media — particularly the thing which is known as a blog. This is one of them, for the love of Mauer. We think blogs are a great place to banter about news (and maybe even break news sometimes). It’s a place for discussion, for a more casual approach to the subjects of the day, and even a good laugh. For lack of a better analogy, blogs in general are the printed version of talk radio. They can spark a lively and insightful debate, with contributions from many angles. Or … they can descend into a nightmarish hell of nonsense. Which leads us to a post dug out from the Everyjoe.com site by Rocket, who sent it to us with the message: “This is why blogs are nothing but a bunch of losers making [redacted] up in their parents’ basements.” We will give you the blow-by-blow in italics, interrupted by our comments. Not to pick on Every Joe but …

Everywhere you look, you see talk about Brett Favre signing with the Minnesota Vikings. It makes a lot of sense since the Vikings have a glaring need at quarterback and Favre would love to sign with Minnesota so he can be right next door to Green Bay.

Nobody disputes this. In fact, it’s one of the two possible outcomes, with the other being that Favre’s injured arm causes him to stay retired. Everyone is pretty clear about that at this point.

But what if Favre wants to return — but not with the Vikings?

But Favre doesn’t want to play anywhere else but Minnesota. That’s the one thing everyone pretty much agrees on through all of this. Where are you taking me?

Could Brett Favre decide to sign with the Buffalo Bills?

Everyone knows Custer died at Little Bighorn. What this post presupposes is … maybe he didn’t?

It would also make a lot of sense.

Yes, in the way that Fave would want to sign with a team from the same division he just left and to which he has absolutely no emotional or competitive attachment.

In the offseason, the Bills signed Terrell Owens to pair with Lee Evans at wide receiver. And while Trent Edwards is a solid quarterback, he’s not a great fit. Favre has the better arm and could arguably be more equipped to use Owen (sic) and Evans to his advantage. Additionally, the Bills are in a win-now situation. Owens isn’t getting any younger and the fans and management are thirsty for postseason success. Favre would give the team more upside on offense.

These aren’t terrible points. But it would be nice to consistently spell Owens’ name right. And to have an original premise that has a shred of plausibility. Know who else would be a great fit? Peyton Manning.

Brett Favre to the Buffalo Bills?

Who are your secret sources? C’mon, let’s see the pocket aces.

Why not?

Oh.
