Hittin’ em straight … except when we’re not

Once we figured out the difference between Highway 12 and OLD Highway 12, today’s 9 holes (really 8 because of the confusion getting there) at Baker National were quite enjoyable. It was a tuneup for tomorrow’s Sassbottom Challenge at the same course. We’re told we’re in his foursome. Hey-o!
Tomorrow’s format is a two-man game where each person hits and you pick the best shot and both hit from there until it’s in the hole. After a shaky start playing straight up today, we managed pars on 7, 8 and 9. Sassbottom can consider that a warning.
As this Friday lazily winds along, we ask: what is the most magnificent golf shot you have ever hit? Ours might have been a gargantuan 5-wood that led to a near-miss eagle try a couple weeks back. Not much feels better on a golf course than hitting a fairway wood in the sweet spot.

Amen.
Driving the green on a 287 par 4 dogleg right to 3 feet and sinking the eagle putt at Indian Wells celebrity course where they play the Skins Game.
Through the windmill on the first try.
The best shot I ever saw Hootie hit, was immediately after a fellow (wearing suspenders but no shirt… Clarence?) in the townhomes next to the course, decided to shoot a rabbit in Hootie’s backswing. He was able to hold up on the swing until we figured out what had happened. He proceeded to tee off again and put the ball prety much on this guy’s deck.
That hole was finished rather quickly.
230-yard five-wood to two feet from the hole.
Unfortunately, seeing that this followed a drive that caught a tree and was then deemed unplayable, the two-footer ended up going in for a par five.
Suspenders imply pants. Probably wasn’t me.
I’m still trying to hit a magnificent golf shot. It has not happened yet.
Golfing in Ixtapa and sending a shot on a dogleg right out straight as an arrow into a pool located on the beach, much to bemusement and anger of many a swimmer.
Oh yeah, I have holed out from 110 yds for an eagle. That also was nice i guess.
