Friday (Greatest day ever) edition: Wha’ Happened?
Posted on July 10th, 2009 – 9:27 AMBy Michael Rand
If you are like us, you spend the majority of vacation time trying to catch up with all the things and people you have missed while working. You end up scheduling, and over-scheduling, to the point that even when it’s relaxing your time off can feel like work — always going from one thing to the next, cramming it all in.
Every once in a while, though, you wind up with a day (or at least a part of the day) that is blissfully unencumbered. And we ask you this very simple question to start a day like that: when you find yourself with no obligations and nothing to do, what are the things that you REALLY like to do?

Pretty much as The Proprietor posted this I cleared the last of the post-vacation backlog out of my queue and looked at the day ahead without a backlist of tasks. The sense of relief is palpable.
Lunch on the outdoor patio. On-time departure to my palatial Mac-Groveland estate. Grandparents providing child supervision tonight. Three-day weekend. Life is really good.
Read a good book on my patio with a good cold beer (Smithwicks or Fat Tire).
Watch the first 2 rounds of the British open early in the morning and then go play golf in the afternoon.

/Back to talk of reading and relaxing. I tend to try golfing or drinking or both.
Yesterday I had the day off.
8am - Breakfast Tacos and coffee
10am - Watching morning television. Nothing is more mind numbing than Hoda and Kathie Lee.
12pm - Twins game including Dome Dog
4pm - Wandering around celebrating commerce in MPLS
5pm - Catch a movie at the Uptown Theater
8pm - Sushi
That’s a day off.
You know what? Just not working would be enjoyable enough at this point.
If I had to pick something to do, I’d want to go to a baseball game, throw some bags outside, play some pool, bowl, drink some good beer. It’d be a full day, but a fun one.
MCCF had me at breakfast tacos and coffee.
