TFD: All-star game on Fox; old Hooters pageants on Fox Sports Net

We’re always curious and usually amused to see what other sports programming on other channels runs up against huge events like the Super Bowl, World Series, etc. You can usually count on some random billiards tournament from six months ago popping up on the ESPN family of networks whenever they know they have no chance. (ESPN and the deuce are showing a WNBA game, volleyball and the 2008 World Series of Poker, combined, tomorrow night). But it’s even funnier to see what happens on channels ostensibly feeding from the same trough — like, say, Fox and Fox Sports Net.
On Fox tomorrow night: MLB All-Star Game.
On FSN, running counter: Three consecutive years (2006-08) of one hour specials on the Hooters pageant.
You can almost hear the program director sighing and saying, “[Redacted] it. I know its’ not a sport. But we have nothing else. Let’s pander to the football fans who believe beer commercials and see if we can pull a few numbers without stealing from the mothership.”
But that’s just a guess.
Enjoy the HR derby tonight. We’ll likely partake of it down at unofficial RB headquarters. If Joe Mauer is able to win this thing one year after not hitting a homer until June and one night after meeting The Captain, we can’t help but think how much the legend will grow.

Mr. Rand
You have another opportunity to use a Megan Fox photo and you blow it?
Unacceptable
Well, the alternative was an Anthony Lapanta’s Outdoor Follies marathon. The episode where he’s attacked by a raccoon and starts screaming, “NOT THE HAIR! NOT THE HAIR!” was memorable, but the rest were pretty weak. The fact that they shot an outdoors show entirely in Ron Coomer’s basement probably didn’t help.
Jama: is your google images search function broken?
Stu: Listen, I happen to know Anthony LaPanta pretty well, and let me just tell you that … what you said is really funny. He would likely respond with a Stearns County joke. Every time he saw you. The same one. Over. And. Over.
The same one he tells Linnemann, I assume.
Speaking of whom, I’m currently grilling brats from the St. Joe Meat Market, the best butcher shop in the Stearns County area. I figured he’d like to know that.
Stu:
If your Web 2.0 marketing results in some walk-in traffic for St. Joe’s, you could end up with some free wiener.
