LenDale White loses weight the old-fashioned way: by no longer swilling 1,000 shots of tequila

tequila.jpgThe story of the day comes from Titans camp, where LenDale White has apparently lost 30 pounds. Did he hire a personal chef? No, sir. Has he been exercising more? Not really. All it took, apparently, was no more tequila.

I really got to be honest,” White said. “It wasn’t a lot of major diet changes. (It was) watching what I drink. I was a big Patron consumer. … That’s what it was. I was drinking a lot, drank a lot of alcohol. I cut that out of my diet all the way. I don’t drink at all. I cut the drinking, I stopped drinking for six months.

But wait: that begs the question of just how much tequila he used to drink. While math can’t give us all the answers, it can perhaps help us get close. Extensive internet research indicates the generally accepted caloric content in one shot of tequila is about 100 calories. It is also standard that 3,500 calories equals one pound of body weight.

So if tequila is really the only difference in White’s diet, that would be 35 shots for one pound. And 30 pounds lost. So that’s 1,050 shots of tequila. If he didn’t drink for six months, as the article indicates, that’s about 180 days. That’s about six shots per day he gave up. So yeah, we can see how that might have been a good dietary move.

Just for fun, more math: the generally accepted size for a bottle of Patron is 750 ML. The accepted shot size in the caloric study above was a 1.5 oz shot. There are about 25 ounces in 750 ML. That means there are about 17 shots of that size in a bottle of Patron. So that would be more than 60 bottles of Patron if White truly gave up that many shots (again, we’re inclined to believe there might have been other dietary factors at play, but we’re just playing this out for fun).

All of which makes the fact that he ran for 15 TDs last season even more amazing.
