Some stories you might have missed during this busy season:
- Moron parking, winter edition: In an effort to keep less-confident drivers off Prior Lake’s ice, the city might ban vehicle parking within 150 feet of shore.
- Rail mania: The use of frieght tracks by the Northstar commuter rail line is a step closer, thanks to a $10 million down payment. Meanwhile, federal officials have given preliminary approval to the design of the Central Corridor light-rail line (this graphic shows how the line would fit on University Avenue). And St. Paul is considering having the line do a loop around its downtown; the Pioneer Press story is here.
- Bus mania: Last week, National Public Radio aired this piece about how cities are improving bus service to lure white-collar workers. (I actually couldn’t get the audio to play on my laptop, but it was highly recommended by alert reader Snowman.)
- Sane-lane mania: Officials are looking at options for the carpool-bus lanes on I-35W, including congestion-pricing tolls like those on 394.
- Seat belts on school buses? After last week’s crash, there’s still no agreement.
