Dunno if you caught Dane Smith’s story on the future Walter F. Mondale Drive in West Duluth, but it is certainly worth a read. You don’t have to agree with Frtiz’s politics to appreciate the randomness of Minnesota’s road naming conventions or Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s rationalization to sign the bill “in yet another sign of bipartisan support.”

Not that I’d wish any harn to our distinguished hometown hero (I voted for Fritz in 2002 and occasionally run into him at Yum! Bakery and Kitchen in St. Louis Park), but I always assumed you’d have to meet your maker before your name made it on a road sign.

What do you think?
