Around 5 o’clock this evening, Roadguy happened to be on the phone with a MnDOT official, and the MnDOT official shared an interesting fact: the Halloween afternoon rush hour is just about the worst rush hour of the year. So many people want to get home to be with their kids before the start of trick-or-treating that rush hour is compressed, with more cars trying to be on the road in a shorter period. The image above — laced with red, congested roads — was captured at 5:28 p.m.

If you had a traffic nightmare getting home for Halloween, or if you have a transportation-related costume to share, please do so below. (If you missed them last year, here’s a freeway-related costume, and here’s one that makes creative use of traffic cones.)
