Commuting on a snow-day

It was a prime day for avoiding driving; actually, an excellent afternoon to stay home and make brownies. Barring that, I’m guessing there were some creative ways around a treacherous drive: telecommuting, public transit, carpooling, taking a few hours of vacation and leaving early.

I live in a handy spot for lots of commuting options, near the Hiawatha LRT line, and so far I’ve tried walking, biking, driving, light-rail, rollerblading and skiing. I was hoping to tell you that I skied to work today, March 31, the day of the Twins opener, but they haven’t developed the right kind of ski wax for slush yet.

Once again, I was surprised at the number of people doggedly biking as the heavens pelted us with slushballs. snowy biker

I hear winter biking’s not that bad if you have the right equipment and attitude (here’s a story about that from January). What other modes did you see out there today — dogsledding, anyone?
