Tom Sorel, an engineer who runs the Federal Highway Administration’s Minnesota office, has been appointed. A news story here, his FHWA bio page is here, an audio/PowerPoint of a January presentation he gave about the response to the 35W bridge collapse here.

A news release sent out by the governor’s office notes that Sorel’s education includes a Certificate in Conflict Management from Cornell. That oughta come in handy at the State Capitol.
