One of Roadguy’s many alert readers named David sent along this link to a Wall Street Journal story about how vanity license plates are auctioned off in Abu Dhabi. One guy paid $14 million so he could have a plate that has only the numeral 1 on it. David writes:

AMAZING. Minnesota should start auctioning the vanity plates… Raise some extra money for all types of transit.

The second link comes from alert reader Tom Vanderbilt, author of the soon-to-be-released “Traffic: Why We Drive the Way We Do.” Tom’s got a blog about driving, and after seeing our item about “WTF” plates, he wrote this post about accidental vanity plates.
