The new 35W Bridge: Open for business
Posted on September 18th, 2008 – 10:18 AMBy Roadguy
I became the Strib’s transportation reporter five weeks before Aug. 1, 2007, so the story of the collapse and rebuilding of the 35W bridge has dominated my beat for nearly the entire time. (If you didn’t see my opus about the construction, it’s here; my story from this morning is here.) I wasn’t at the front of the line today at 5 a.m., but I met some of the people who were and drove along not far behind them. I’ve now been across the bridge a half-dozen times as both a driver and a passenger. The photo above is from around 9 a.m., and you can see the sort of views the new railings afford.
If you’ve had a chance to check out the bridge today, let us know in the comments below.
