Airline names on highway signs coming soon?

If you remember this Roadguy column from last November or this post from early 2007, you might be interested in this story from today’s paper, which has garnered more than 100 comments. Looks like MnDOT and the airport are figuring out a way to tell at least some motorists which airlines are at which terminal — and they’re looking at dropping the words “Humphrey” and “Lindbergh” from those green freeway signs.
I checked out some PDFs of the airline sign locations. On westbound I-494, they’d be over the Minnesota River; the eastbound signs would be west of Hwy. 77, meaning anyone coming to the airport via 77 or from the Mall-o-Merica wouldn’t see them. There would also be signs on westbound Hwy. 5 before the exit to Lindbergh, which would be known as Terminal 1.
If the names of the two vaunted Minnesotans do vanish from the signs in favor of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, Roadguy expects to hear from people who miss their flights because they were looking for Humphrey and couldn’t find it.
