How was that first sloppy drive?

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

I’m reluctant to acknowledge this, but I have today off, meaning that my car and I are missing out on the first potential snowflake-related commuter freakout of the season. So I’m hoping that enough people will actually make it to work and post some updates on how it all went. Please share any tales, from the harrowing to the heroic, below — and remember, the roads are probably even worse up in Duluth.

Are Vikings fans worse drivers?

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

I haven’t gone to a Vikings game in almost three years, and I don’t remember the postgame traffic being all that bad (maybe because I’m a cheapskate and tend to park pretty far from the Dome). But I keep hearing from friends that downtown is a nightmare after a Vikings game — gridlock, cars blocking intersections, aggressive drivers, profane pedestrians, etc. I need to get down there for a game-day look, but until then, I’ve got questions: How long was your drive home? Is it really that much worse than after a Twins game? Should there be more police? Would moving the team to Anoka County make it all better? Roadguy wants to know.
