Well, I didn’t see the runs (and thoughts about FSN)

Sometimes, life interferes with baseball.
When I was in the drug store, on a quick errand, the Twins fell behind 1-0.
When I was walking from my car to the office, it became 2-0.
When I was in a meeting, the White Sox went ahead 3-0 and ended the misery.
So you’ll have to go elsewhere for views and news about the details.
One of the perks of my job is that I have a TV above my desk. You know, to keep track of local and world events in times of crisis. Seeing postgame analyst Ron Coomer, without audio, from a distance as my meeting broke up certainly seemed like a time of crisis.
It was better without sound. So was The Situation Room on CNN.
Too often, blogs can bogged down in analysis of other media. This writer rocks… That broadcaster bites… Wish we had Ted Robinson back… Knowing those arguments tend to go around and around and around, without resolution or changing anyone’s mind, I try to shy away from ‘em.
But IÂ have two things to say about the FSN telecasts.
*When Roy Smalley works with Dick-n-Bert, the games become more interesting to watch. Roy is prepared, understated, intelligent and his opinions bring out the best in the others as they respond to him and fire questions his way. Like a good point guard, Roy makes the rest of the team better. (Speaking of point guards: Good luck at Minnesota State-Mankato, Marcus.)
*Does FSN really need SIX people for a postgame show? The other night you had Dick-n-Bert in the booth, Coomer-and-LaPanta at another desk, and Smalley paired up with Marney Gellner. The party of three above makes for intelligent analysis. Who decided that have twice as much talent would be twice as good? I don’t care if Herb, Scully, Harwell, Uecker, Jack Brickhouse and Buck-the-Elder were trading licks. It would be too much. Somebody make that stop, please.
Enjoy Johan tonight.
