I also noticed Gomez tends to look in toward the hitter as he's stealing... almost like you do with a hit and run situation. I don't care how fast you are, you lose a step when you do that.

Me Too
Another cliche: baseball is all about adjustments. Wouldn't surprise me if pitchers are mixing it up as to how long they hold the ball before delivering, etc. Gomez is still so young and inexperienced, it probably wouldn't take too large an adjustment to throw him off. Don't remember him hurting his hammy. Most of the possible injuries are more in the back and from the shoulders up as he crashes into walls, although a dive might not be great for any part of him.

It makes me wonder about Gomez and his getting caught stealing so much compared to at the beginning of the season. Did the pitchers catch on to him that quick? Something has changed, don't know what, but something.
Maybe his acceleration isn't there right now, not able to get to second as fast as before. Maybe a lingering effect of a hammy perhaps? If so, it probably won't get much better the rest of the year. So many times these players play thru injuries that are never really disclosed, and to the people looking in, it looks like they are having a down year, kinda like Cuddy last year, or even this year. Injuries kill seasons for players, and sometimes, we as fans don't even really know about them.

Good and adequate discussion/posts, JimCrikket and sid about the running game. Thanks.

I hope Bill Smith reads it and passes the word to Gardy.

In other words.....

KEEP IT GOING, TWINS. This is the battle for the WC going on in Yankee Stadium this week. And beyond. We need to solve 3B, Gomez's spot in the lineup, and relief pitching.

Manship, Bonser, and Buscher for Beltre. (Bring up Mulvey?)

Dang, how many times are people gonna keep bringing up the Ellsbury/Lester thing? Kinda like the Carl is cheap theme. It keeps on coming back. Too bad that the let the facts stand in the way of their arguements.
