Words we can swallow (or haiku to you)

Words we can swallow
After this win sound so hollow
One game means little
Responding to some of the comments made after the Opening Night loss while keeping the haiku vibe that some of you started yesterday:
“Did the Twins even have spring training? They look like they haven’t seen a pitch since game 163 last year.” –Capcom67
Spring training happened
Some guys did quite well, thank you
Bats woke up a bit
“I’m curious. Exactly what is it about an 0 fer 1, 2 walk, 1 sac bunt (when we didnt really need a sac bunt) night, following a sub-Mendoza spring training, that makes Span “look dangerous” right now?” — JimCrikket
Going 3 for 5
With that big hit in the ninth
That looked dangerous
“Can’t argue w/ Punto’s prior stats against Bedard. But I still don’t think he’s someone to defend a starting SS position.” — Matt E
That slick double play
Kept the M’s from one more run
Harris turns that in dreams
“I still think Kubel has more threat from the plate than Cuddy. Cuddy hasn’t proven squat…” — Matt E
A two-run single
That’s R-B-I in both games
How do you prove squat?
“…(H)ere are my two questions for Gardy today if he speaks to the media prior to the game: 1. What’s the story with Delmon Young? 2. Who is your centerfielder?” — Jason
Gardy in haiku:
Some games it’s Gomez, others Span
Young will play a lot
“Twins behind by more than 2 runs, Guerrier, Duensing and Humber in (relief). Twins ahead or behind by 2 or less, get the other 3 in and leave them until they throw 20-25 or are ineffective.” — thrylos98
Humber and Guerrier
Down by one, three shutout frames
Fickle conclusions
“You forgot to mention the disturbing ‘Morneau picking up where he left off last year with an 0-4 including an inning killing double-play’ performance last night.” — beetlejuice
Oh-for-four again
Sparks worries about Morneau?
Suggest longer leash
“I would like to see Span in center, Gomez in left and Young in right - his natural position - and Cuddy coming off the bench on occasion. But since Gardy has annointed Cuddy his right fielder, come hell or high water, that will not happen.” — Kay
How many driven in
In ‘06 and ‘07?
One-hundred-ninety
“Young better be in the 3 hole tonight playing RF.” — Matt E
Young goes 0-for-4
And also throws to the wrong base
Matt has quick trigger
“Confidence, people! One crummy night means nothing. It’s what Gardy and his team learned from it that counts. I, for one, have lots of confidence about where this season will go for the Twins.” – DL
It’s a long season
But the temptation is great
For premature gloom
Keep comments coming
Words are made to be swallowed
A smart group you are!
