Politics aside, Laura Bush was just one section over and three rows in front of me. It’s funny how that gave the show, where celebrities walk the catwalk in designer red dresses, more gravitas. While it’s more like a red carpet than a runway show, it’s also to raise awareness for The Heart Truth, an organization devoted to raising awareness to heart disease in women.

Back to the runway: Kim Cattrall (of Sex and the City) opened the show. Angela Bassett (in the Carmen Marc Valvo dress at right), Kelly Ripa, Rachael Ray, Katherine McPhee and Marlee Matlin all looked dazzling. Billie Jean King, who strutted to Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” possibly got the most applause, while Miss Universe was greeted with, er, less.
