Alice Roi is one of my favorite designers. She isn’t well-known in Minneapolis yet, but she should be. Her clothes are innovative and clever. For fall 2006, her models wore black lipstick (before Chanel came out with its popular Black Satin nailpolish). For fall 2007, models wore seriously black eye makeup and big moody pouts (in a natural lip shade–Effet 3D Les Nudes lip gloss by Bourjois, pictured below, to be exact). The sense of humor (liger mohair sweater) and punk soundtrack make the show and clothes exactly what they should be: fashion forward without being taking it all too seriously.
