Here’s your assignment: page 352 of Elle’s March issue. From “The Beverly Hillbillies” image, you’d never guess this is an article about fashion in MINNESOTA. Yeah, that’s right. We’re getting dissed by Alexandra Kimball, whose husband cruelly moved her to the Land of 10,000 Lakes and how she dumbed down her fashion for us. Though she found Louboutin, Miu Miu and Alexandra Hicks here, she was shocked. Then she tested our fashion savvy with this clever barometer: “Wearing a beautiful Prada silk-linen tunic and one of the brightly colored turbas you’ve been seeing in your favorite magazines, I stroll down St. Paul’s main drag, Grand Avenue, on an unseasonably warm afternoon. No stares, no gasps, no pointed fingers.” Thoughts on this writer’s anthropological study?
