Of all of the invites I’ve received, this one is the most useful. Aveda sent this lightweight non-toxic aluminum water bottle. The designers that they’re sponsoring this season are making many eco-conscious, including serving tap water backstage in these bottles instead of the disposable plastic.
The other steps:
– Eliminate fur in shows and all retail.
– Serve organic, locally sourced food to backstage staff (including models!).
– Print all programs and show invitations on post-consumer recycled paper.
The green designers for this season are Rodarte, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Rag and Bone, Thakoon and Edun.
This initiative coincides with my New Year’s resolution to ween myself off of disposable water bottles. You can buy your own aluminum bottle–they’re by Sigg Switzerland. The liter bottles are around $19.99 at mysigg.com and come in some pretty fabulous designs. I’m partial to the autumn stripes.
