With the recent news that a Lacoste store will be opening at the Mall of America later this year, the Lacoste show suddenly became much more interesting.
Also interesting: The presumably faux furry rug that covered the runway and spilled over onto the first row seats. It seems like it would be in contention for the world’s biggest bearskin rug.
With fuzz underfoot, the label made the case for building a sophisticated ski season wardrobe. The show opened with the fashion-forward Club line, which is distinguished by a silver crocodile logo. The shades of gray and white with splashes of mustard yellow were elegant, especially for ski wear.
Lacoste’s designer, Christophe Lemaire, then dramatically switched locations to Jamaica, which goes preppy in his interpretation. The bold stripes of black, gold, red, and green.
Then the color scheme and scene switched again to an apres ski disco party, according to the program notes. Leg warmers and jeans in pastel blocks of purple, pink, gray and white.
Once this bright store opens at the Mall of America, Minnesotans will have full access to the Lacoste lifestyle.
