Peter Som is getting a lot of buzz this season. Even though the snow kept away much of the crowd (wimps!), those of us present appreciated the rich textures he used and the interesting lingerie details. Here’s what he said about his inspiration for fall 2008:

“I was inspired by the offbeat quirkiness of Diane Arbus photographs imagined in color juxtaposed with the impeccable artistic direction of the show “Mad Men.” I was struck by Arbus images of girls in Washington Square Park in the early 1960’s and the certain attitude and oddness they exuded. Imagine a girl with the same off-kilter sensibility today injecting an eccentric ease to her wardrobe.”

At right, a gorgeous mille-feuille organza and tulle dress and at left, a wool gauze macintosh with shimmer, gray turtleneck and lilac silk duchesse satin “swag” skirt.

Also check out the shoes by Christian Louboutin for Peter Som.
