Watching Marc by Marc Jacobs show is like seeing pieces of wearable candy come down the runway. Marc by Marc Jacobs presented a fall line with punk, urban attitude. Black, dark blues, grays, and white were pumped up by punches of nearly bright blue, green, pink, and yellow and shiny silver hardware such as buckles, zippers, and buttons. So an indigo satin dress was paired with hot pink booties and a yellow dress was almost completely hidden under a black coat and all black accessories. Shoes were primarily flat booties with buckles, either black or one of the line’s brights. It’s fun, youthful and what a lot of the cool kids will be wearing this fall.

Jacobs presents his signature line on Friday night, the very end of fashion week. He has traditionally it shown earlier in the week and followed it with this more youthful and less expensive line the next day. Perhaps he’s still meditating on his backwards theme from last season.

Anyway, the local Marc by Marc Jacobs news is that the line, which is currently carried at Nordstrom at the Mall of America, will be picked up by select Macy’s soon. Look for the spring collection there.
