Daily StylePointer: Ralph’s official Olympics Polo shirt

Monday, August 11th, 2008

You may have seen the story about the Twin City Polo Club in the paper yesterday? You may be watching the Olympics.
For those who wish to embrace the two: The Beijing Olympics official polo by Ralph Lauren with a big pony and the official event logo. It’s available for men and women $125 on the NBC website.
My favorite part from the Ralph Lauren Olympics collection? This men’s straw fedora ($150). Seriously, guys, if you plan to attend a match any time soon, you need this.

Daily StylePointer: Back in blues, baby!

Confession: I haven’t worn jeans in probably six months, maybe more. However, an hour the permeating cold of San Francisco and that’s all I wanted to have on. Good thing I brought a pair of J Brands (and good thing they still fit!).
The hot style here? Skinny, mostly dark blue denim such as these True Religions ($172) from Bloomingdales.

Most of the skinny-denim clad gals wore flats with them. I heart a practical walking city!

Daily StylePointer: Soap that smells like dessert

I ran through Target the other day, getting ready for a trip to San Fran/Sonoma. I must admit that even though I love Sonia Kashuk’s products and Boots No. 7 Restore and Renew, I don’t usually linger in cosmetics there. However, it’s me for a new body wash and I decided to smell Brazil Nut and Vanilla body wash by boots. It’s like a sweet nutty frosting–so yummy. I’m not one to eat my soap, but this one is tempting.

This gift set is $19.99 or you can buy just the body wash for $8.99. Find them at select Targets.

One more thing: As I mentioned, I’m in San Fran and am staying somewhere with no television! Not just no cable, but no tv. I expect my IQ to increase about 20 points over the next few days. So instead of assuming that Suede talked about himself in third person and Stella was all about the leath-a, there will be no Project Runway report today… We’ll have an extravaganza next week.

Daily StylePointer: Loving the good Karma

Jada Breuer was a pioneer when she opened this trend-forward fashion boutique on Grand Avenue. Nearly three years later, she has relocated down the street to a storefront next to Bread & Chocolate. The fresh bright space uses white as a canvas set off by a gold ceiling and gold and hot pink wallpaper — a perfectly zen setting for all of the fun clothes and accessories that earned the shop accolades from Lucky magazine.
0806_free_people.jpgLook for new transitional and fall pieces in the next few weeks, such as this stand-out dress ($138) by Free People. Karma’s offerings are wardrobe destiny.

New blazer from Old Navy

First of all, there are deals to be had out there. I spent last Friday at the outlets in Albertville and the summer sales are remarkable. If you like the basic tanks from Old Navy, get to the outlet and stock up.
For those of us who have vowed off summer attire for the rest of the season (me! me! me!), here’s a nice transitional piece from Old Navy. This twill blazer is a nice neutral–not too brown, not too blah–and has a flattering two-button stance. It’s also not too long, which should look great on a number of body types. It’s $39.99 and a nice way to start out your fall/transitional wardrobe.

Daily StylePointer: Richard Chai for Target

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Look_09_010.jpg
When it comes to up-and-coming American designers, Richard Chai is one of the hottest. After designing for Marc Jacobs and TSE (a cashmere-centric line), Chai launched his own label in 2004. Normally, you’d have to go to Barney’s to find his regular line, but starting yesterday, you can find it at Target. Look for his signature minimalist-style and feminine silhouettes to be Target-ized. The abstract floral print on this tank top ($12.99) is a big fall trend. Here, it’s worn with Bermuda shorts ($26.99) and a blazer ($39.99) that calls out transitional.
Find the collection at select Target stores and at target.com.
