What a relief it was to walk into the new shoes and accessories store Ladyslipper last night. One step onto the zebra-print carpet and one look at the shelves lined with the coolest flats, platforms, boots, handbags and costume jewelry that you’ve ever seen — and you’ll be hooked.

The owners of Bluebird Boutique teamed up with their best customer/shopper extraordinaire Amanda Rose in this new venture.

A unique feature: Steals and splurges in one store. There are colorful bracelets that come four for $12.50 and $600 handbags. These crinkle metallic flats by All Black are $112. Now that’s range.

If you haven’t been to Flirt Boutique yet, it’s time! The lingerie shop on Grand Avenue has a great selection of pretty feminine things and chocolate bars. Anyway, the purpose of this post is to talk about these cuffs. They’re about $26 and so cool that I’ll be a bit cliche–looks great with jeans and dresses.
In other Flirt news, there’s a new website. Check it out!

Daily StylePointer: That swimsuit from Weeds

The swimsuit that Mary Louise Parker wore in the ad from the current season of “Weeds” has that perfect combination of retro and still chic. Plus, it’s full coverage without being at all dowdy.
Lucky for us all, the one-piece suit by Jantzen ($110) is available in a full range of colors at Nani Nalu in Edina.
Tip: If you haven’t been to the swimwear shop before, it’s kind of tucked in the alley on the north side of 50th Street.

Best. Sale. Of. The. Year. If you’re into fall clothes, which most people I know who live in MN are. The new merchandise is on sale, up to 40 percent off. This L.A.M.B. plaid blazer is a good place to start. It’s $249.90. However, starting August 4th, it will be back up to full price– $385. Yeah, that’s 35 percent off. Check out the whole catalog online here. Then go to the MOA on Friday and enjoy the deals.

Daily StylePointer: Vintage Glam

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Many Twin Citians trust the attention-to-detail service at accessories shop StyledLife. It turns out, the boutique’s fashion experts spend their spare time searching the globe for vintage pieces that are in mint condition. This month, you can buy their finds during the Vintage Glam event. It’s part-festival, part-sale with prices start at $36 for a set of bangles, which is a fraction of what you’d pay for a new designer version. Not to mention that you’ll likely be the only person in town with the piece. Check out this necklace ($188) by Napier. If you have a neck that’s small enough and strong enough to support it, you can turn any outfit into a superhero-worthy star turn.

Daily StylePointer: The Miranda dress/Macy’s experience

I spent a lot of time at Macy’s yesterday. Yo, if you’re a sale shopper, this is the time to go. Even the Oval Room has racks of 40 percent and 65 percent off. (Though your coupons with the small print aren’t good there, of course.)
So not on sale is the Miranda dress ($158) by Maggy London. Belt not included–you still have to do some work to get the full look.

While there and in the dress department, you can check out the new FAO Schwarz store on the fourth floor. Welcome to our world!
