Daily StylePointer: Coach upgrades

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Well, well. Galleria scores again with the high-end market. As of this month, the Coach located in the Edina luxury mall is the only one in the area to be classified as a “fashion store.” Fans of the C-logo (that isn’t Chanel) can shop for the label’s more exclusive bags, jewelry and watches.

I like this patent leather tote ($398) from the Bleeker collection, shown here in plum.

Daily StylePointer: Hudson, here we come!

The holiday weekend is almost over, but it’s not too late to take a day trip to La Rue Marché. It’s about 30 minutes outside of Minneapolis and you’ll feel like you’ve shopped at a Parisian flea market. Browsing in the shabby chic surroundings loaded with trinkets as well as the most current clothes and accessories, hand-picked by owner Lisa Shortridge. This tunic dress ($72) by Bizz, reversible (yes, reversible) handbag ($179) by Kim White, and shoes ($105) by Jeffrey Campbell. The jewelry is by Tamara Schafhauser, who designs under her first name and keeps a shop-within-a-shop in the back nook. The inner necklace is $68 and the longer necklace is $129. No doubt that even the French would approve of the boutique’s certain je ne sais quoi.

If you want to see some new summer merch, the place to go is Target. Sales, shmales…there’s a new collection of Go International’s Private Label line in store now. There are some fab florals and easy summer pieces like this L.B.D. that’s $26.99.
You can also shop for Rogan on sale and anticipate the arrival of Richard Chai next month.

Daily StylePointer: Sale searching

Basically, everything is on sale right now. It’s a good time to buy something you might not try if it were full price.
For me, that would be Juicy Couture. I’ve held a grudge against them for bringing so much attention to bums in coordinated sweat suits. And making aforementioned sweat suits so pervasive in our culture.
Anyway, there are actually a number of really adorable pieces from J.C. Case in point: This cotton eyelet dress. It’s cute and great for this hot weather…plus it’s on sale for $148.80 (marked down from $248) on www.netaporter.com.

Daily StylePointer: French Connection maxi

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

I was having coffee with one of my most stylish friends who mentioned that she just picked up a maxi dress at the French Connection in New Orleans. Well, that prompted me to check out some of their summer options.
Here’s another full-length dress from the current collection. Patterns with black backgrounds transition easily into fall. It’s an investment of $178. But according to the aforementioned friend, a very comfortable, worthwhile one.
