First of all, the cream cable strapless sweater dress that Jillian wore today was adorable. I wish we had seem more clothes like those in her collection.

I do think than in many regards she may be the most talented. One her tiered coats was spectacular as was this pleated skirt outfit, though it may have been pulling up a bit in the back. However, a gray sweater that had some conspicuous holes in the torso didn’t look very flattering on the model. Also not-so-hot? The off-the-shoulder sheer sleeves tacked onto the otherwise beautiful gold dress.

Overall, but I’d rather dress just like Jillian than in the collection she sent down the runway.

“Project Runway” finale: Chris March’s collection

Chris showed second. Again, we’re pretty much sure that he’s a decoy, but he was all choked up about his show, which was really touching.

He started off with a fun, dramatic toga dress in a dramatic fabric with what looked like the head of George Washington or another colonial fellow on it. Over all, the collection seemed a bit costumy, though it felt like he held back from sending out designs that seemed fit for a drag queen.

Sweet P showed first.
She was best when working an unusual color palette of lavender and citrine, which provided a surprising, yet fresh contrast. Some of her later pattern mixing was not as sharp.

If I had to guess, I’d say she is not in the final three, but only next week’s episode will confirm that.

Plus–everybody in the audience was happy that she had the opportunity to show in Bryant Park. Sweet deal, even for the non-contenders.

Meet the costume designer (and couture) from “Lipstick Jungle”

Tonight is the premier of “Lipstsick Jungle.” Imagine my great joy at having a seat next to Dan Lawson, the show’s costume designer at the Michael Kors show, especially since we had a solid 30 minutes to kill before the show.

He had just come from the Nanette Lepore show. “The colors were gorgeous,” he said. “Some styles would be perfect for Lindsay Price, who plays Victory Ford.” He picked out a red shiny coat, in particular.

He wanted to emphasize that “Lipstick Jungle” isn’t about the wardrobe. “For us, it’s story first; fashion second.”

How does he dress the show’s three power women? “The ladies are experts on their characters. They had their own ideas about different styles and what works on them,” he said.

So here’s the scoop on who wears what:

Brooke Shields as Wendy Healy

Style: Contemporary business look, rooted in old Hollywood Glamour. “She won’t just wear a white blouse—it would be a fabulous wrap by Daphne.” However, Brooke is easy to dress. “You could put her in a paper bag, belt it, and heels and be done.”

Brands: Asprey of London, Ralph Lauren, Daphne blouses, Rachel Roy, Naeem Khan and Dior.

Lindsay Price as Victory Ford

Her style: She’s a fashion designer so Lawson tries to dress her as if the designs were her own. Her signature would be a dress look, fun, feminine, flirty and sexy. She also wears these glass rings by Legge and Braine. She’s also a business woman, so she might wear a knee-length dress or a mini.

Brands: Peter Som, Derek Lam, 3.1 Phillip Lim, DKNY, Diane von Furstenberg, and Fendi.

Kim Raver as Nico Reilly

Her style: She’s an editor-in-chief. For Kim, we try to create dresses with longer jackets over it.

Brands: Michael Kors (quite a bit!), Alberta Ferretti, and Fendi

Shoes for all of the ladies: Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, Fendi, and Sergio Rossi.

More about Dan Lawson: He worked on the series “Third Watch” and the movie “Revolutionary Road” with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet that will be out in 2008. He currently lives in Montclair, NJ and his four-year-old daughter shopped with him for some of the costumes at the Short Hills mall. This is his first fashiony show and fashion week.

Dan loved the Michael Kors show—saying he wanted to go out and buy a fedora for himself, immediately.

More about “Lipstick Jungle”: They’ve filmed seven episodes and are now stalled because of the writers’ strike. He also pointed out Candace Bushnell in the front row.

Flipping for 3.1 Phillip Lim

Phillip Lim is one of fashion’s darlings of the moment. His line has made strides at high-end design in a mid price-range.

This collection is no exception, except that for the women who fell for his easy-to-wear fall 2007 line will find that the next collection will require a little more thought and lot more tailoring.

Here’s how he described it: “Silent volumes - the idea of a quick glance, without a word exchanged…and left with only thoughts to linger.”

Abstract, not? There were plenty of pretty pieces, like the “wheat boucle seam sweater coat; almond constellation double fan cocktail dress” (below( and the emerald wool crepe front tiered eyelash ribbon dress with poet sleeves (above). The hats were also divine.

Remember T.J. Moore? We profiled him a year ago. Here is on the runway and backstage in his final runway show of the week. He also walked in Y-3 and Rock & Republic. He’s originally from Minnesota and has been living in New York and modeling.
